Windows Vista problems, plz help?

I am a new user to windows vista, I have a dell computer. I have for the past 2 days started vista but a blue screen kept appearing telling me something about diskspace problems. Also when I rebooted the computer, it took a while to load, and I A WHILE. I have a good virus protection system so I think its the computer itself, I am paranoid about this computer which I finally get to use today because i cannot have this thing dead, it was given to me for christmas by my parents. My questions are

1. Is the problem serious enough to kill my computer?

2. How can I solve the problem? Would system restore help?

Have you downloaded any music or video files since you had the PC? If so... you may be running out of hard drive space simply by filling up your hard drive with downloaded files.
